On This Day We Two Shall Wed…
On March 22, 2014 we celebrated the marriage of Tomo and Masa
We truly believe that the best weddings are those that reflect the couple’s style and personalities. Tomo and Masa are an adorable pair, sweet as can be, and their wedding here at Sugar Beach could not have been better suited for them. From the “I Do” stickers on Tomo’s shoes to the pink roses in their champagne, the mood was light and fun. Sandra from A Maui Wedding Day made sure that no detail was overlooked and Jana Morgan was there to capture the prettiest photos.
Tomo and Masa are so gracious and lovely people. They were truly a joy to work with. The love they have for one another is so easily seen by the way they just look at each other. She takes his breath away and she cherishes him. The traditional tea ceremony was touching. Because half of the party only spoke Japanese, they had a translator for all of the speeches who made sure all the guests were included. I thought that was a great touch.
Isn’t it amazing how sometimes a certain color can really speak to you? Blue was found throughout the wedding in the bridesmaids dresses and chair sashes. Tomo even found special chargers for us to use and had lovely reception shoes custom made with her touch of blue.
They had one of my favorite apps, Turkey spring rolls with a spicy mustard sauce and crab cakes and a sweet and sour Kula onion tartlet. One of my favorite salads, Thai chopped salad with lemongrass caramel vinaigrette. It’s a perfect combination of local vegetables and herbs with a slight sweetness of caramel in the dressing. One of the newest number one sellers for entrees is the Asian braised short ribs. They did a duo plate of the short ribs and macadamia nut crusted fresh catch. I love a duo plate, everyone gets a little of both items without having to make a choice. (We did not make the cake). They finished the night with wedding cake and our freshly ground Kona coffee and selection of Maui teas.
Tomo and Masa had a beautifully choreographed first dance. Later, their wedding party surprised the Bride and Groom with a flash mob to Gangnam Style. It was hilarious and Masa even joined in on the fun!
It was definitely a fun wedding full of characters. They had a great mixture of younger and older guests and they all mingled and danced together. The bartenders were busy all night. But the best when when the wedding party surprised Tomo and Masa with their flash mob. You can tell by the photos just how surprised Tomo and Masa were and how hilarious it was! Masa surprised them by jumping in on the fun, and it just added to the fun even more.
Indeed, this wedding was such a fun time, one that I’m sure everyone will remember for a long time. Congratulations to Tomo and Masa! May your marriage continue to bring you laughter and joy.
Thank you, Jana Morgan Photography, for letting us share your wonderful photos.
