On This Day We Two Shall Wed…
On July 12, 2014 we celebrated the marriage of Krystle and Michael
The moment we caught a glimpse of the detailed invitations we knew this was a wedding you should see. Pops of royal blue and apple green accented the celebration, which was beautifully planned by Leslie from Simple Maui Wedding and expertly photographed by Karma Hill. Leslie shared some of her favorite memories of Krystle and Michael’s wedding day at Sugar Beach Events.
The ceremony music was traditional and pretty on the ukulele, played by David Wolf: ‘Canon in D’ followed by ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ for the bridal party processional and ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri for the bridal entrance.
Shoyu poke ~ wonton confetti
Smoked mozzarella ~ truffle honey and fig
Crab cakes ~ avocado coulis
Lobster crème brulee ~ hollandaise and caviar
Macadamia nut crusted prawns ~ papaya chili sauce
Upcountry greens ~ white truffle vinaigrette, bleu cheese stuffed lychees
Sesame crusted catch with a diver scallops ~ ginger lime beurre blanc
Broiled lamb chops ~ mint basil pesto
Sugar Beach Events made a 6” cake for cutting as well as special cupcakes with these yummy flavors:
Lilikoi with tropical cream of mango and roasted pineapple
Chocolate cake with Tiramisu mascarpone cream with amaretto
One favorite fun moment was the choreographed family dance hip hop number featuring two cousins, their niece and the groom’s brother.
Also, especially touching was the bride’s father’s toast. He was so happy for the couple and so proud of his daughter who worked so hard in school and recently got her license as a registered nurse.
Liam Grist was the DJ and he did a great job of keeping the party going all night with current music and popular dance hits.
The bride and groom had a custom made cake topper of them laying on the sand.
We used Strike a Pose for the photo booth with lots of fun props and they asked their guests to put the photo booth photos directly into the guest book and write their well wishes alongside.
They had a hand painted surfboard by Miss B Calligraphy to show the guests their seating assignments.
The last main event of the night was a special private hula show put on by Manutea Nui E with a live musician, two hula dancers and a fire knife performer. The hula dancers had some audience participation and pulled guests out of their seat to teach them soma hula moves and the fire knife dancer invited everyone out onto the lawn and gave a dramatic finale.
Besh wishes to Michael and Krystle! May your wedding day at Sugar Beach Events be just the beginning of a long lifetime of happiness together.
