Suzy and Ben thought how romantic it would be to have their wedding in a beautiful island paradise – Maui. After visiting Sugar Beach Events’s website and viewing photos of the amazing Maui weddings held at our oceanfront venue, they decided it was the ideal venue they were looking for, with the perfect Maui wedding packages to choose from for their intimate celebration.
Long story short, it was an ivory ball gown with beads and buttoned long trails – I originally picked a very simple A-line dress, (I thought it was appropriate to pack for the destination wedding, too) then my mom insisted that I should get a more flamboyant dress and took me back to the dress shop to immediately return the A-line dress. In the end, it didn’t take a long time to find “THE” dress that both my mom and I loved!
At the guest table, wedding guests received the perfect Maui wedding favor to wear during the ceremony, sunglasses. These were no ordinary sunglasses. These sunglasses came in an assortment of neon colors inscribed with ‘Suzy and Ben Hawaii’ along with the wedding date. As it turns out, everyone wore them during the ceremony AND throughout their Hawaii trip, which thrilled Suzy and Ben.
There was also a special table set up for a sand ceremony where Suzy and Ben intermingled pink and navy sands together in a beautiful keepsake bottle.
A vanilla wedding cake with strawberry butter-cream filling and vanilla butter-cream frosting was topped with the most adorable bride and groom rabbits. In fact, the wedding invitations and many other decorations had rabbits in a pastel tone, all lovingly designed by Suzy’s friend. We were thrilled to find out ‘Rabbit’ is Suzy’s nickname. What a sweet touch.
We wore Hanbok, Korean traditional clothes, during a part of the wedding reception. Back in the day, Hanbok was the proper wedding attire for bride and grooms, but because of the time, we didn’t get to do much of traditional way. However, when we made a visit to Korea after the wedding in Hawaii, we wore Hanbok to have proper way to meet our elderly relatives including grand parents.
I would recommend planning big items (flight tickets, accommodation, etc) in advance and focus on the details as the wedding date approaches. If you try to do everything all at once, it just gets too hectic and you will find yourself stressed out. (Although it is almost impossible to avoid getting stressed out anyways! ☺). Also it’s very convenient if all of your guests stay in nearby areas – all our guests stayed in Kihei which made pre/post wedding activities very manageable.
We wish Suzy and Ben a lifetime of happiness, love, prosperity and health for the years to come. Special mahalo to all the vendors that helped to make Suzy and Ben’s wedding day so incredible.
