This is the very first wedding we have featured on our blog, something that we would like to do more often. And what better wedding to feature first than the very last wedding we did last year… the lovely ceremony and reception for bride and groom, Regina and Hai. We were blessed with a picture-perfect Maui day, and an absolutely gorgeous Maui sunset to top it all off. We thank Kaua Wedding Photography for providing us with the beautiful photos.
Regina and Hai’s wedding was coordinated by Makena Weddings who listened to their wedding whims and desires and helped us bring their hopes and visions into reality. The decor and style was done elegantly, but Regina and Hai’s personalities are so fun and light that the little personal and elegant touches that were chosen really accented their spirit of playful sophistication. Regina and Hai were married on our beach with red rose petals lining the aisle which lead to a beautifully draped canopy.
On This Day We Two Shall Wed…
On December 13th, 2013 we celebrated the marriage of Regina and Hai
I especially loved the dramatic hanging centerpieces for each table in vibrant reds to the matching blooms on each table setting, and the red draperies. These special details really gave the wedding venue a special warmth and elegance. Mandy Grace did a wonderful job with all of the décor.
Sunset time… As the sun made its way toward the horizon, Regina and Hai’s wedding guests and family enjoyed the brilliant hues while enjoying cocktails and appetizers and the beautiful soft sounds of Hawaiian music. I have to say, most of our Maui sunsets are beautiful, but this one in particular was absolutely breath-taking. Perfect!
I’ll try not to make your mouth water, but I sure can’t make any promises!
- Lobster Creme Brulee
This is my favorite dish. It’s so creamy and full of flavor, a bit of caviar… need I say more?
- Mini Greek Skewers
These are so light and refreshing, a salad in your mouth.
- Kalua Pork Pot Stickers
Fresh, crisp and full of flavor
- Bacon Wrapped Ginger Soy Scallops
Scallops so tender and fresh, and who doesn’t like bacon?
If your mouth isn’t watering yet, this may do it…
- Marinated lamp chops with a mint basil pesto. Think of a hint of sweet molasses and heat of crushed red pepper and mint pesto to tame it.
- My signature purple sweet potato puree served with both the lamb and also the macadamia nut crusted fish. You must have a fresh fish option when you come to Maui The fish here is some of the best in the world.
Dessert was a fun dessert buffet: Chef Natalie made one of her new creations "Spicy Mexican Cold Chocolate Put Du Creme". I mean, soooo good! There were so many choices; certainly something for everyone to enjoy.
My favorite moment of the night was when Regina, Hai and their wedding guests stood on the back lanai and watched a traditional Hawaiian Fire Knife Dancer done by Manutea Nui E. It was a wonderful way to incorporate the Hawaiian culture into the reception — with memories that will last forever.
As the wedding reception moved into the night, it was nice to see guests getting out of their seats and putting the dance floor to good use. Regina and Hai are such a fun couple. Hai even went out and performed the dance to Gangnam Style. His looks and moves were just like Psy!
We wish all the best to Regina and Hai. May they have many years of happiness and many great memories of their special Maui wedding here at Sugar Beach Events.
Special thanks again to Kaua Wedding Photography for the amazing photos!
