On This Day We Two Shall Wed…
On February 22nd, 2015 we celebrated the marriage of Quincy and Ivon
Ivon and Quincy, who are originally from Shanghai, China, decided to attend grad school in the United States and met at a pre-school party prior to them leaving Shanghai. They became good friends and started their romantic relationship after watching the sunrise together at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.
The couple enjoys visiting places with beautiful scenery, especially locations with both mountains and the sea. Even though they had never traveled to the islands before, getting married in Hawaii was a dream come true. Sitting right in front of the ocean with gorgeous views of the West Maui Mountains, Sugar Beach Events was the perfect venue for this nature-loving pair.
“Modern Beachside Meets Nautical” was the theme of the day and special attention was paid to the littlest details to tie everything together. The untraditional bridal bouquet is one of the most unique we’ve ever seen. We also couldn’t help but notice the pearl neckline on the bridesmaids dresses and pretty starfish hair pins they were wearing. The custom designed petal aisle added a beautiful touch and the cake was a vision of beachy elegance.
The groom surprised the bride with a song he had learned on the ukulele, which was so endearing… just love when the groom plans a romantic surprise! Guests were treated to a performance and hula lessons by Manutea Nui which is always wonderfully fun.
Shades of light blue with ivory and white accents kept the mood light and airy. Beautifully packaged favors added a pop of red color to each place setting. Bride Ivon brought seashells, starfish, and fun props such as an anchor, lighthouse, seagull, and conch shell that were incorporated throughout the decor.
Kamuela Tomato Bruschetta
Sweet and Sour Caramelized Onion and Goat Cheese Tartlet
Beef Satay ~ marinated filet with toasted sesame seeds
Salad: Butter lettuce ~ aged white cheddar, vanilla bean vinaigrette, cranberries and toasted almonds
Entrées: Guests chose between the Island Style Chicken and Grilled Pineapple or the Seared Fresh Catch seasoned with garlic, lime, and cilantro compound butter.
Congratulations Quincy and Ivon! You are such a sweet couple and it was a pleasure to host your wedding day here at Sugar Beach Events.
