Anne and Burton dreamed of a modern wedding with a whimsical touch on the beautiful shores of Maui. The color theme of green, ivory, peach and grey was incorporated in many unique and surprising details. We love everything about this wedding. A whimsical modern approach was featured in so many ways, from the cotton studded branches in the floral arrangements to the topiary wall that displayed the party favor / escort cards. Mahalo to Anna Kim Photography for capturing all of the love, happiness and whimsy of Anne and Burton’s special day.
Anne’s wedding dress was beautiful and unique. It was a two-piece from BHLDN. The top was a corset and the bottom was a high-low silk skirt with pockets, which comes in handy for a handkerchief to catch all those happy tears.
“The location of our wedding was at Sugar Beach Events in Kihei, Hawaii. It’s a private space that is just gorgeous that is right off the beach. When you first open the front doors, you’re greeted by an immediate view of the beach — all glass walls and an open floor plan makes it the perfect beach front event space.” — Bride Anne
Inside, so many wonderful details awaited the guests. A topiary wall is a fun and colorful way to let wedding guests know where they will be sitting for the reception. The escort cards also served as a wonderful party favor.
Wedding guests enjoyed the ocean view under a shade canopy while enjoying their appetizers and cocktails. What better way to add whimsy than with a cotton candy station. Cotton candy was even added to the Bride’s Signature drink which added a bit of fun.
The passed appetizers served and enjoyed by the wedding guests were caprese lollipops, fruit gazpacho shooters (melon, mint and blueberry), shrimp cocktail, and assorted tea sandwiches made with fresh salmon, capers, cucumbers and brie cheese.
The Signature Wedding Drinks
His: BLOOD RED SAND – Kohana Kea Rum, Domaine Canton Ginger Liqueur, Byrrh Grand Quinquina, Blood Orange and Passion Fruit
Hers: ALWAYS STAY KLASSY – Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Averna,
Campari and Giffard Orgeat with a Maple Cotton Candy Garnish
After the amazing cocktail hour, wedding guests were treated to a very special brunch buffet. Omelettes were freshly made by our chef at the Omelette station. An expansive buffet table offered guests a Kula Salad, Hawaiian French toast with date butter and coconut syrup, Mochiko Chicken with rice, Loco Moco, House made Bok Choy Kimchee, and a charcuterie board with Hawaiian jams, cheeses, maui onions, fruit, etc.
Along with the two-tiered chocolate cake, there was a buffet table of desserts. Wedding guests enjoyed cake along with lilikoi meringue pies and banana nutella lumpia with a light dusting of powdered sugar.
We wish our newlyweds a lifetime of love and happiness. We are so pleased we were able to be a part of the beginning of their journey together. May their love grow stronger with each passing year, with a good dose of whimsy and sweetness all along the way.
