Lee McBride is the Executive Chef and Owner of Sugar Beach Events on Maui, Hawaiʻi—an oceanfront venue known for its elevated cuisine, heartfelt hospitality, and unforgettable celebrations. For more than two decades, Lee has shared her love of food, service, and storytelling with couples and clients from around the world, creating experiences that reflect the beauty and spirit of Maui.

  • Lee’s culinary roots on Maui began in 2004 when she joined the management team at Wolfgang Puck’s acclaimed Spago at the Four Seasons Resort. Working closely with award-winning chefs Adam Condon and Cameron Lewark shaped her approach to flavor, discipline, and creativity, and set the foundation for the career she would build.

    In 2007, Lee launched Aloha Events, a boutique catering company that quickly gained recognition for fresh, innovative menus and warm, attentive service. That success evolved into Sugar Beach Events—her dream venue and the place where her culinary passion, design sensibility, and love for hosting come together every day.

    Over the years, Lee has received the MPI Aloha Chapter Rising Star Award (2019), contributed recipes to the charitable cookbook To Lahaina with Love, and served as a Board Member of the Maui Wedding and Event Association (2024–2025) before stepping into the role of President in 2026. She has also been featured as a guest chef at Catersource, appeared in numerous news and morning show segments, and contributed insights and recipes to professional catering publications. She is a also a consultant working with King’s Hawaiian since 2021 on their NASCAR and NFL activations.

      Giving back to Maui is a foundational part of Lee’s mission. She supports numerous local organizations and frequently donates her venue, catering services, and culinary expertise to community causes and fundraising events. Lee also serves as an Ambassador for the Alzheimer’s Association, Aloha Chapter, a cause especially meaningful to her after losing her mother to Alzheimer’s.  

    Her desire to keep learning and growing takes her around the world, exploring global culinary traditions and bringing inspiration back to Maui through new techniques, flavors, and ideas. Sugar Beach Events is also proud to be a member of the Leading Caterers of America, an invitation-only organization recognizing excellence in the industry, as well as the International Caterers Association.

    Lee has called Maui home for more than 20 years and still feels grateful every morning to live and work in such a beautiful place. When she’s not in the kitchen or designing menus, you can find her adventuring around the world with her partner, Alex, or spending time with Scampi—“the best tiny dog ever.”

Our Story

Sugar Beach Events is an upscale event space on Maui, Hawaii, born from a decade-long dream of Chef Lee McBride. Opened in 2013, the venue offers a luxurious setting with a full-service kitchen and a bar featuring an unparalleled selection of beverages.

Inspired by her passion for creating unforgettable experiences and her love for Maui's unique flavors, Chef McBride designed Sugar Beach to showcase the island's beauty and heritage. This one-of-a-kind facility is perfect for weddings and special events, providing a personalized and memorable experience that reflects your individual style.

Since its opening, Sugar Beach Events has gained recognition in national and international media outlets, including KITV News, Maui Now, Maui News, and The Bachelorette.
